The Salone del Mobile 2021
The Salone del Mobile 2021: the 60th anniversary edition will be held in September 2021.
President Claudio Luti said that the 2021 edition will be the symbol of a new start for companies and the design community; the September period, from 5ft to 10th, has been chosen as the safest date for exhibitors and visitors. All the exhibitions will be present and the digital one will also make its debut.
This will be a special edition because it will celebrate 60 years of a leading event in the world that in 2020 was stopped by the health emergency and in 2022 will take place again in April.
This is the expected announcement of the date, made by Claudio Luti, president of Salone del Mobile.Milano, who arrived after a series of reflections and evaluations that involved Salone and Fiera Milano because they had to evaluate the best solutions to ensure the safety of exhibitors, professional visitors, architects, designers and buyers given the continuing health crisis taking into account that the 2019 edition had over 386 thousand visitors.
The 2021 edition will be special because the sectors, such as the kitchen and lighting, will also be on display every two years and, above all, because the physical salon will also be accompanied by the digital salon that will be present in all future editions. And that’s not all, once the Milan Show has restarted, the timing and modalities of the international initiatives in Moscow and Shanghai will be studied.
“There is a need and desire for the Salone in Milan. Clients and designers from all over the world, as well as the press that follows us at an international level, have asked us insistently in recent months for answers on the confirmation of the edition. And this answer has been given – stressed Luti again – We will be there and we will be even more beautiful and motivated as the companies that are working to design and produce the best possible design and product proposals. After such a long time of physical and social distancing in every field, we would like to be able to think about the Show of meeting and real confrontation. To be able to come back and get excited together again with a city animated with new intentions”.
“Happily involved” in the difficult definition of the exhibition calendar is the new CEO of Fiera Milano, Luca Palermo, who will be in office from next January 1st. “For us at Fiera it was also a moment to think about the restart through the most important Italian event and we worked because next September will be an important month for Milan. We have thought of enriching it with events and proposals by teaming up with Homi, so that in those days in Milan we will have the largest representation dedicated to the world of living and lifestyles, and there will also be fashion.” This is a strong signal, a sign of trust, of the ability to look ahead concretely as a system: Fiera Milano is at the service of companies, a platform that allows the relaunch of the Italian system and we are convinced that we will give a great signal to the country.
An experiment is also being considered with Sea Aeroporti di Milano and Politecnico di Milano in order to obtain a health passport for visitors.
The decision of the Salone del Mobile, to move the dates, follows by a few hours the decision to hold the fashion system events in March 2021. A great sign of optimism is therefore coming from Fiera di Milano, which manages to bring together the entire economic system of Milan and the Lombardy Region, with an estimated impact of around 8 billion euros.
